Context
Surly is my most invested project — not a client, a product I co-founded and have been running technically for four years. It's a marketplace specialized in banking and insurance: it connects experienced freelance consultants with industry players for short, mid and long-term assignments.
- 02
The challenge
Banking and insurance are regulated, demanding worlds where deep expertise and experience are non-negotiable. Generalist platforms can't filter that bar: they drown rare profiles in the crowd. Surly fills that gap with a qualified, dedicated pool — a true talent marketplace for organizations that can't settle for almost-right.

My role
Co-founder and CTO. I built the platform end-to-end: architecture, full-stack development, and to this day maintenance and growth hacking. From the first line of code to ongoing growth, the product stays in my hands.
- 04
Approach
A two-sided marketplace built on React and Supabase — light enough to iterate fast, robust enough to handle the load and the trust of institutional players. On the supply side, demanding sourcing of vetted consultants; on the demand side, an experience designed for companies to find the right profile without friction. Four years in, I'm still evolving the product and pulling the growth levers myself.

Outcome
1,600 specialized consultants listed. 8 enterprise clients using Surly as their talent marketplace for short and long-term assignments. And a platform still active after four years — proof that a niche product, well built and well maintained, lasts.
